The joyful ember (8+)

The joyful ember (8+)

Lads came to the forest to dance, to make fun and just to relax at the camp fire. The weather was lovely. The sun was shining. The birds were chirping. The cuckoo was also heard from time to time.

First, the kids made a fire. They gathered many branches and dry grass. They brought some wood for the fire with them. What a fire could be with just branches and dry leaves! Whereas wood was crackling well and a long time!

It was so interesting to watch how the fire was kindling. It was crackling gaily and quickly. What air was in the forest! The air was transparent and clean.

The music could be heard all over the forest. The birds flew away in fear in different directions. The boys played for a long time, had so much fun and then decided to go home. They threw their things in their cars and … off they went.

At once it became as quiet as it usually was only in the forest. There were unblown embers in the fire, remnants of food, paper and other rubbish.

And in that fire, among embers, a cute and unusual ember was quietly snoring. He was unusual because he could dream. When there was noisy nobody could hear him, but when everything calmed down you could hear a crackling and hissing sound in the silence. The ember wanted to show that he was alive.

He was lying among the other embers and keeping his eyes open. Suddenly, some birds flew and perched on the tree branches. They were very close to the ember piece. They were chirping about something vaguely. Then they skipped down the branches, to the ground and started to pick bread crumbs, pieces of sausage, cheese and something else.

The ember piece thought: “I wish I were a bird! I will also pick something. But now… I am lying here with no purpose. My life is gradually fading.”

Then the larger birds flew to that place. They chased the little birds away and started to pick bread crumbs, pieces of sausage, cheese and something else that the kids left.

The ember piece thought: “It is cool to be a big bird. She is not afraid of anyone. And now…. I will die out soon and my life will be over.”

Then the fox ran to that place. She turned all birds away from the meadow and continued to eat.

The ember piece thought: “No, it is better to be such a little animal. She is not afraid of anyone. And now…. I will die out soon, cool down and fall to small pieces. So that there will be no traces of me.”

Then the bear visited to the meadow. He turned the fox away and continued to feast. There was so much food after the boys’ fun.

The ember piece thought: “No, it is better to be such a big animal. He is not afraid of anyone. And now… My life will be over soon and no one will remember me.”

At last the bear was full and went away. And the ember piece thought: “I will go and check, maybe there is something left for me too.” He jumped out of the fire on the dry grass. The grass caught fire at once. The ember piece was so happy! He thought: “The boys left some food for me too. That is what I need".

Slowly the grass began to burn. The ember piece was so happy.

“I will live” - the ember piece cried, now he didn’t crackle quietly because the whole flame soon turned into a blaze. It was getting bigger and bigger.

“Now I will not be forgotten, now they will remember me too!” - the ember piece danced, jumped, and had fun.

All animals and birds began to run away in different directions in fear.

“Yeah! Everyone is afraid of me! I don't want to be like anyone, I want to be only the fire!” - the ember piece turned into a big fire that it was not possible to stop it.

Fortunately, the firefighters arrived quickly. They extinguished and extinguished. They extinguished and extinguished the fire for a long time. One fire trucks arrived, another left for water.

And finally, the fire was extinguished. The firefighters were tired, the fire trucks were tired too. It’s a pity, many trees died as well as insects, flies, beetles and spiders that did not have time to escape from the fire. The baby rabbits, baby hedgehogs, and baby mice didn’t even have time to escape. Their mothers cried and grieved for their dear babies for a long time.

And those boys who didn’t extinguish the fire and didn’t take away the rubbish were soon apprehended. They had to pay a large amount of money. The fine was so large that the boys would have to work for many years to pay it.

We need to preserve our nature! It is alive! Don’t you think so?
